I Know How He Feels
Sometimes I feel like Harry Potter
without the magic.
Trapped
all summer long.
Rarely feeling like he belongs.
Fighting for his life
with almost every breath he takes.
He just wants his friends
to survive.
Just wanting to survive himself.
Watching his friends die
despite his best efforts.
Our situations are different, yes,
but I know how he feels.
I know what it's like to be
alone.
I, too, know the scent of fear.
and the taste of tears.
I, too, know the sting of pain.
I, too, know the sting of death.
