Long Live Our Friendship...Or Not
We broke up,
But we didn’t break up.
We were never even together,
We weren’t a couple.
We were friends.
Not just friends, best friends.
More than that, we were more like sisters.
We laughed together,
Had inside jokes like all happy-go-lucky best friends do.
We loved each other like only best friends can.
But we “drifted,”
Or so you thought.
You said we were done.
But we’re not.
How can we be if all I can do is slip into a deep depression
For thirty minutes each day?
How can we be if I pulled you out of every low time in your
Life over the past two years?
Two years is a long time.
A very long time.
Long enough for me to know you better than anyone else.
Long enough for us to become the best of the best
In the best friends category.
But now we’re done.
You moved on, I act like I have.
I cry, you don’t.
Now I see how different we really are,
Because apparently I didn’t mean that much to you,
But you meant everything to me.
