Good Enough
I’ve felt things changing before
And I feel them changing now
At the moment, I’m not quite sure
How they’re changing
It’s more subtle, this time
Than times before
The change isn’t that I want to be alone
But that I’m comfortable alone
My thoughts haunt me from afar
On blissful days I can banish them entirely
Today is one of those days
I’m actually happy
Just because of simple things
An earbud offered in friendship
A peaceful lunch with my book and I
Taking pleasure in life as it is
And not worrying about the future
Maybe things aren’t what they seem
It’s possible the friendship was insincere
And possible that a catastrophe will befall me
As soon as I finish the book
But happiness
True happiness
Isn’t worrying about the future
Or how people perceive you
It’s about enjoying each breath you take
And all the joys that come with that breath
Knowing that
I banish treacherous thoughts entirely
For now
Right now
That’s good enough

Thank you ever so much. My day just got a thousand times better (even though it's already afternoon!).
My friends are the inspiration for this; even though I won't be seeing them half as often as I used to, I still appreciate the influence they've had on my life.
And all the joys that come with that breath" because it is so true. great job, and i look forward to reading more.
