We Should Be Together
When I finally came around you,
The look you gave to me,
Overwhelmed my heart with comfort,
And set my feelings free.
You said “hello” that moment,
And I looked into your eyes.
Gave you a smile that would let you know,
That this was no disguise.
You changed my life back then.
I would do it all over again.
Took my heart from me,
So we could see.
That we should be,
Together.
The second time I saw you,
You put your hand in mine.
You looked and smiled at me,
Said, “Baby, please be mine.”
I didn’t hesitate one moment,
So I said, “Alright, I’ll be.”
Then you gave my heart a jolting,
Cause you suddenly kissed me.
You changed my life back then.
I would do it all over again.
Took my heart from me,
So we could see.
That we should be,
Together.
One year later,
When we were twenty- two.
The preacher said, “Do you take this man…”
And sure enough, I said, “I do.”
Put the ring on my finger,
And I shed a tear again.
Kissed me and took me back
To the time where you asked me out back then.
You changed my life back then.
I would do it all over again.
Took my heart from me,
So we could see.
That we should be,
Together.
