Storm
Across the shadowy sky of blue
On the horizon, a storm starts to brew
Sending clouds dark and gray
That look as if they’re here to stay
Their bellies dark and full of rain
And from their paths they do not deign
To show us mercy or veer off course
They gather menacingly at their source
And with a bright bolt and a loud crack
Orbs of rain fall with a wet smack
Onto pavement, umbrella, and upturned face
As creatures run away, the storm gives chase
Soaking everything in their path
Nothing escapes the thunderhead’s wrath.
And just as soon as the storm had begun
This summer thunderstorm is now done.
