A Prisoner's Song
Happily, merrily he sang of sea,
His eyes wet yet shone in glee.
His scarred face spoke of wars,
From behind prison bars.
Tales from far off lands he told,
Of horrible wars in terrible cold.
And of pirates from his deck,
Who fought for none but battle's sake.
Tales of storms tides and waves,
Of lonely island nights in caves,
At times my eyes closed to see
And feel the wrath of stormy sea.
Tales of dolphins, sharks and whales'
Of the lost treasure of wales,
And the diamond they had sought
On the night that he was caught.
"Alas," he said,"my men and my crew,
All were killed but a few.
The day I break out of here,
I'll revenge in name of sea I swear."
