Dear Death...
I missed you by a minute
Or maybe it was a mile
All I remember was that flash
Of your shining, eager smile
As you caught me by the ankle
Tried to pull me to your net
But somehow, I got away
You have not killed me yet
I ask you for some time
Just a month under a year
Because although I'm awfully old
There are things I must do here
I cannot go away with you
You cannot be my guide
But when it is my time to leave
I will smile by your side
My tasks will be complete
Every chore on the list, done
And although you've taken me
It is I who will have won
