Lullaby of Goodbye
Sleep in heavenly peace child,
for soon all shall be silenced in a bitter-sweet thing we call death.
Keep your eyes shut and know peace will be with you always.
Though no one is certain on what will happen next,
do not worry as you stand before the Jury.
Breathe slowly and listen to the sounds of the Earth.
Touch the softness of the sheets on the bed.
While favorite memories replay in your head.
Keeping in mind this may be your last time.
Familiar voice are touching your heart.
Songs of the melancholic machine continue in a slow rhythmic tone.
Sounds from sobs fill my ears.
Feeling lighter and lighter,
as the pressure in her chest become too much.
Remember to breathe and count to three.
One...
Two...
Three.
Now her heart and soul are set free,
to soar where people have not gone before.
As the rest of us sing,
the lullaby of goodbye.
