Window pains
Sleepy jazz is upstairs, playing.
Animals in the suburbs are barking and shaking,
preparing for raining.
Inside, the red houses are
darkening and graying.
Thunder is quaking and making
the window panes
strain for solidity.
Citizens all around are taking
their time leaving work for the sake
of safe keeping.
So they won't notice the rain drops
racing and the pranking sheets of
water giving the car a good spanking.
Or the artistic droplets painting.
Painting the fading wood benches
the faintest shade of
faint shading.
Yeah, it's finally raining.
And not one dusty stem
in this space town
is complaining.
