Senior Year (Our Time Now)
they hand you a diploma,
and you hand me the key.
you say take care of this place,
it's grown to mean a lot to me.
you say lock her doors and mop her floors
to keep her clocks running,
clean her wounds and lick her sores,
but keep the good times coming.
don't forget to rock the gym,
flood the halls with laughter,
to teach the young kin,
the writers of the next chapter.
you're a king on a throne,
because this is a kingdom,
but your crown is only on loan,
and fast the year will come.
enjoy the time that you have earned,
and teach all the lessons that you have learned,
like trust, love, compassion, forgiveness, and loyalty,
because everyone knows, Purple is royalty.
