A Curious Case of Mortality
i am forever old.
these bones never stood a chance to heal.
they shall forever be weathered and worn.
these eyes will always sag,
my ears hard to hear,
and my drive nonexistent.
iv seen too many things,
felt too many highs and too many lows
to take another great leap,
to spend my summer skipping,
or to make the mistake for the mistake's sake.
i can only imagine the hardships of the years to come,
when i can hardy roll from my bed.
then again,
perhaps i am a curious case of Mortality.
we all die sometime,
perhaps i was dead to begin with,
only to be brought to life by the love of others.
doctors could never cure the pain,
only the embrace of warm arms could relieve me.
it makes sense that i started at the finish,
because when i leave this world,
that is when i am truly alive.
