An Empty Lake of Desire
i skipped stones on an empty lake,
thought about the complications that nothingness brought,
while sitting on the waveless beaches of pleasure.
shallow-ended enjoyment only lasts for a moment,
and what's more shallow than an empty lake of desire?
it's beaches are nice but i only end up burnt.
it's waves kissed me once and never came back again.
there is no life here.
so i sat on the heat drenched sand dunes
and dreamt of clear waters,
birds over heard with unquestionable calls,
coursing fish and their splashes and games.
in my dreams there were relieving waters,
they kissed me once, and then they kissed me again,
only leaving but forever returning.
there i sat in the shade of the maple
who painted the air with his sweet scent.
life was all around me.
i could swim forever in the waters of devotion,
but i drowned in the emptiness of desire.
