Childhood
I watch the icy water
as the warm yet cool breeze runs through my hair
the first signs of spring appearing to my aging eyes
Watching the block of ice in the water
slowly receding its enormous size
into nothing
As my childhood slips away from my fingertips
I shed my childhood as the ice sheds water
and I recede until one day
I will become apart of the soil
just as one day the iceburg
will become apart of the water
