Angels Falling
I watched the clouds one day by late afternoon
And spied shapes shift and change with the wind
But between passing clouds one spot remained
Forever blackened by a falling shaped
Falling towards Earth
Our Earth
Not hers
She took the figure of a young girl
With striking red hair
As she fell
Wings protruded from her back
White dappled with red
That fluttered and flapped
But could not detour the path
That destined had designed
Still, she fell on
Not unlike a falling star
Pulled from its lofty spot
In the midnight sky
She landed at my feet
And smiled
Her wings were broken
Her body shattered
But her soul intact
An angel died at my feet
My angel
My guardian
My friend
I watched an angel fall from the sky
