Pity the Forgotten
I pity the souls in old, forgotten graves
The stone markings where they now lie so worn down,
It's almost impossible to make out the engravings that gave the simplest facts of one's life
Name,
Birth date,
and
Death date
But are now mistaken for chicken scratches
They have no one left to weep and mourn the loss of their life,
cut short or held out far too long
And no one to lay lilies on their graves
Anyone they ever cared about is no gone
I pity the poor souls of
Old, forgotten graves
They are truly alone
