Short Term Bliss
It calls my name
Tempting me, begging me
I’ve been able to ignore it
Yet this time it’s different
This time I give in
It’s lurking around the corner
I’ve been clean for so long
Hey, I might as well, right?
It tastes so good
And at last I’m satisfied
Yet I’m left with a sense of
Shame, guilt, and numbness
I thought I wanted this
More than anything in the world
Thought I needed this
More than I needed air
Now all I feel is
Shame, guilt, numbness
That’s all that’s left
After binging on short term bliss
