Running out of Time
Ten year ago I was a child
Just learning how to write
Barely able to read a word
My favorite place was school
My favorite color blue
Some time ago is gone
The present doesn’t last
Long before it turns into
Yesterday and
Tomorrow
Is where I stand
Today I am a teenager
Trying to grasp the concept
Of life and who I am
While my emotions stir and
I become a person who loves and hates
Some time ago is now
And I know it can’t last
Before it’s time to grow up
And let it be
Tomorrow
Where I stand
Ten years from now
My schooling will be over
But I will continue to learn and teach
As I gain a job doing something
I love and become an adult
Ten years from then
I don’t know what I’ll be
Happy is my biggest dream
Next to living
Because time makes us struggle
And I now realize
I’m not running out of time
Time’s running out of me
