Stale Hope
Uncertainty shatters your honest world
On the avenue crying for your supper
Where are the hands that held you high?
Where is the life that was mine?
The clock ticks away
A senseless hour
Another sweet treat
has turned sour
Poor child
You have grown
Reflections show what you have become
Gave away what you own
But now you're blind
Unfeeling, the pain has made you numb
Sneering at an empty world
You laughed at your saviors
Looking in the dusty corners
For remnants of tales untold.
You'll never find what you've never owned.
A mended heart you'll never know.
