When That Day Comes
Though are days were numbered,
Ere we had reason to count them,
Count them indeed we do
Dreading the day that will come
As all days do
By rise of the sun
And set of the moon
And spin of the Earth
Spinning and spinning
And counting and counting
Months, weeks, days, hours,
Minutes and seconds
Dashing past, faster always
Than our combined hearts beating
The sunniest days of our lives
Yet always overhead the shadow
That day, silent and hidden for now
Longing, dreaming, hoping, praying,
Praying for the strength to do right
When that day comes.
