Outside Lover
Every time I turn a corner,
I see you there
With him again.
Every time your hands touch
Sends shivers down my spine.
Every time you share smiles
Burns jealousy into my mind.
Every time I catch you watching him
Rakes at my injured heart.
Every hug you share,
A lash to my bare back.
Every love letter exchanged,
A wave of sorrow attempts to drown me.
Every kiss that comes in between,
A lump of hopelessness snares at my throat.
But even after the suffering,
The pain,
The sadness,
The rage,
The on-the-brink-of-giving-up feeling,
I can't stop loving you.
All the moments we share,
All the memories we make,
All the happiness that shines our way.
All of these keep my faith in check,
My patience unwavering.
And so,
I'm willing to wait the wait.
Short, long.
Three weeks, three years.
If you'll be the light at the end of the tunnel,
My struggle,
Then I'll know it's well worth it.
