Boardwalk
I walk down a boarded
path, grass on either
side of me. Tickling
my ankles are their goal.
I feel my heart beat
harder with each footstep,
I feel my feet walking
lighter.
The summer haze
blazes ahead of me
and the whispers
of the wind wrap
around me.
I have walked this
path for sixteen
years and there has been
much construction,
many sections of gold
and few missing
pieces.
I am blessed
to be born.
I am blessed
to be walking
this path.
