Where I'm From
I am from the grape vines of Dinuba
To the frozen lakes of Minnesota
Ending in the small town
Where almost everyone knows one another
I am from falling asleep to veggie tales
And waking up to Tom and Jerry
From thinking I was so cool with my training wheels
To being the last to know how to not use them
I am from wilted flowers
A poor attempt at gardening
I’m from fresh bell peppers
And a melancholy tree with bare limbs
I am from the comfortable fold out chairs
And broken down and rusted trucks
I am from the broken family
Long ago consumed by sadness
From cookie dough covered fingers
On the weekends with daddy
I am from knowledge
Too scared to be put to use
From failure leads to success and do your best to try
I am from those moments-
Falling slowly from the tree
Only to be picked back up again.
