Memory's Mist

The burning sun sets
like our love, briefly
and moves into the more memorable night
shrouded with dark complexity
a few stars twinkle
and shine through memory's mist
as we kiss the time goodbye
and struggle to reminisce
before it falls to nothingness
but it does, eventually
but it doesn't end the fight
the burning returns and settles
into our eternal fire pit
and we prepare for a new dawn
