All The Rest
Calling.
Calling, calling, calling.
Like a bird destined to forever sing the same song.
Simply trying to hold on. Onto my sanity, my reason for living.
I can’t forget what I’ve done.
All that’s left is to pick up the pieces.
Where to begin? That is the only question now.
No one else ever cared. Their hard, unfeeling eyes would go cold as they looked at me.
But never you. Never you.
You never looked at me with an invisible air.
We walked a fragile line. Forever threatened. Forever misunderstood.
Strong on the surface, but, alas holding onto nothing.
Now it’s gone terribly wrong.
Don’t leave me like this I beseech you!
Searching for a reason to be missed.
For something, anything, to leave behind.
You can’t turn back now.
Finish what you’ve started!
If nothing else promise me one thing.
When I’m gone.
Gone, gone, gone…like a candle finally relieved of its struggle…leave out all the rest.
Tell only of my deep brown hair and rosy cheeks and ambition and the hard-working qualities I posses.
Leave out the struggle, anger, and cynical outlook.
Promise me, leave out all the rest.
