A Toast, to Demolition
My name is ember
Hope and Fear
Light and Destruction
Co-dominant
Juxtaposed
Trapped in Dynamic Equilibrium
My name is myriad
Confused and Lost
On marked trails
Maybe because
Of them
And their perfect parallels
My name is enclosed
In a box
My box
I helped build it
I put up the windows
I pulled shut the doors
And now I observe
From a safe distance
My name is wrecked
Out of order
Broken padlock
Torn blueprint
Shattered window
My name is fear
Of my Blood
On the pane of the broken window
Or the splinters of the empty door
My name is bravery
Too long I've been afraid of creation
Fashioning the synthetic
To compensate
For that which
I could have had
My name is memory
Remembering my pulse
my heartbeat
and how good it feels
when glass shatters
when Cold penetrates your lifeless skin and breathes
when sweat mixes with rain
My name is live
Really Live
Escape the walls
Break the windows
Brave the threshold
And change my name
To Life
