"The Woods"
The woods were covered by the night.
The moon’s light was not enough to brighten the forbidding darkness.
The green and brown leaves silently falling to the ground.
The nocturnal animals scurrying around,
Cautiously hunting—gray creatures of the night.
Stalking their prey,
Pitter- patter—pitter-patter—you hear them running.
The sound of the crickets seemed to lighten the woods.
The lightning bugs flying,
Emanating such light—yellow stars within the shadows.
Stars harmonizing with the black, uninviting woods.
