"The Mirror"
The girl walks up to a mirror.
She looks at her reflection.
She can’t help but cry.
It’s not her she saw in the mirror.
She goes away to cry,
The mirror image going away as well.
It was not her she saw,
But the person everyone expected her to be.
She walked up to the mirror again,
Expecting to see her real reflection.
But again she walked away to cry,
The mirror showing only a stranger.
She comes back to the mirror.
She looks at the stranger in the reflection.
How can people not see me as I am?
Why do I have to be the one to change?
She shatters the mirror,
Glass flying everywhere.
She said, “I won’t let anyone change me,
The image in the mirror shall only be my own.”
