I Know My People
I know my people.
We come from all corners,
And we are indistinguishable at first glance.
But do not hear me wrong - I know my people.
We are different.
We are tied to the ground to keep us from flying.
And our dreams get away from us, when written in the dust.
But the dust is illuminated,
And through it we see that those who bind us,
are dull, dumb, and dim in comparison.
Fireflies looking up,
And wishing they were stars, like we are,
Watching from the sky.
My people and I.
