Life as a Dead Man
Blood is just a poisoned rum.
Memories like chewing gum.
Swallow, swallow,
then you die.
Tell me, what’s your alibi?
Hearts are just for great believers.
Lungs for none but sulfur breathers.
Bones aren’t only for the strong.
Oh wait –
they are, but not for long!
Veins are not but your God’s favorite,
crosswords in the morning paper.
Blood is just a poisoned rum, and gum!
But thoughts –
Oh joy! What fun!
