The Darkest Hour is Just Before The Dawn
They say the darkest hour
Is just before the dawn
The night sky looms above
Without a single star amongst it
No moon to be seen nor found
The air is frozen and harsh
Slamming on passerby’s faces
Merciless and black
With no room for a glimmer of hope
The hour could not possibly be darker
Slowly, over the blur
That once was the horizon
A faint steak of light glows
Like a small candle in a storm
The flickering light battles
It battles against the claws of the dark
Slowly it begins to grow
The light spreads out
Becoming clearer and clearer
It sings that the hour of night is over
And that the rein of hope would follow
It stretches its arms gracefully
Throughout the nigh sky
Soon that light begins to change
Shades of red and orange
Spring out from its heart
Painting the heavens ever so beautifully
The freezing wind recedes
Becoming a calming breeze
Soft and cool
Like the very breath of the earth
The world stares
With awe and wonder
As the black of night fades
Reluctantly the darkness vanishes
Making way for shades of
Pinks, reds, yellows, oranges and violets
Hope and light glimmer in the air
For after the long night’s wait
Dawn has finally come
