Waiting for Superman
why am I waiting for Superman?
Well, I promised Superman I wouldn't wait for him.
I said Lois Lane was stupid.
I said Clare and Henry were pitiful.
I said girls who waited deserved the disappointment they got.
why am I waiting for Superman?
Well, Superman never asked me to wait for him.
he asked me to wait and see if I would wait.
I rolled my eyes and said
that’s a stupid question.
why am I waiting for Superman?
Well, I got home and I thought about
phoning for Superman.
but my own super-cape got in the way and I thought
well, I have a lot of superheroes to meet.
why am I waiting for Superman?
Oh, don’t worry.
I’m not waiting for Superman.
he’s waiting for me.
Superman says he’s not waiting for me.
I say I’m not waiting for Superman.
I laugh and say,
“It’s funny you thought you were cool enough to be Superman.”
he laughs and says,
“It’s funny you thought Superman was cool enough to be me.”
and then we both walk away. but it’s mostly funny because
I don’t think either of us cared about Superman.
