Flashback
Flashback to thirty years ago
We were eight and I had a crush
On you, my best friend, and praying it didn’t show
But every time you spoke, I couldn’t help but blush
Turns out you also really liked me
You admitted it sheepishly on the swing
The next day I kissed you behind the tree
And that began our long fling
Five years later, we’re at our school dance
Standing around shyly, grinning wide
Then you felt the need to take a chance
You took my hand and we ran outside
You told me you loved me and I said it, too
We kissed on the lips then you looked at me
With a grin on your face and your eyes sparkling blue
While I was giddy and had shaking knees
Three years later we were both sixteen
You still made my crazy heart beat
And I made you laugh and beam
Because you loved me from my hair to my feet
Five years later you asked me to marry you
Of course I said I would
A few months later we said ‘I do’
And we moved in together like a married couple should
A year later we brought in this world a baby boy
His small, beautiful self made us love even more
He was a miracle, this bundle of joy
And he touched our hearts down to the core
It’s been seven wonderful years since then
We have three kids; John, Ashley, and Ben
We're living happily with love and laughter
And we know we’re going to live happily ever after
