Forever a funeral
Salted melancholy licks away fears,
Holding the flavor of loss between the emptiness of tongues and teeth.
Saltwater drips down their faces,
Cheeks kissed with that heart filled sorrow of loved ones.
As if the whole world stopped,
Savor that feeling of numbness.
Cold hands tempt millions,
Rough sandpaper on colorful skin,
Telling me I know this sensation.
Inside my stomach your pain burns up to my throat.
Reddened pupils watch that empty hand,
Stroking lonely lips.
One
Reach out to none.
I feel you reaching,
I hold it too.
Sent of you in clothes and cloth,
Never to be worn again.
Fragrance gone from that home,
Once so aromatic.
Now burnt toast,
Full noses.
They are gone,
But I am here.
Life bursting in the streets,
Waves crash onto solemn beaches.
Creeks of the old wooden floor can be heard.
Bawling silence.
I promise I’m there.
