Christmas Air
The gentle note of Silent Night
Flow into the background silence.
Snow is falling from the heavens
Outside in the crisp cold airy night.
The wreath full of holly
Hangs on the door beckoning in all guests.
The tree lit up with colorful lights,
Hiding the presents beneath.
Family coming in from
Far away destinations.
Chicago. New York. Even London.
Near and far they come.
The feast is laid out
Upon the table in all its splendor.
The fire gleams and glows
Devouring the Yule log.
Children stare at the packages
Under the tree with curious and hungry eyes.
The elders of the family
Gather in the living room.
The cousins, nieces, nephews
Hide in the kitchen,
Giggling at each others
Adventures of the past year.
Midnight is coming
Everyone is in anxious wait.
Children listen in bed for the jingle
Of the bells of the mystical sleigh.
It is Christmas Eve
Soon to be Christmas day
Such happiness of the holiday people hope
It will never end.
