Black
The dark midnight
It creeps up behind you
You turn, your breath ragged
Just darkness
A bat’s wings flap
And you turn from side to side
As you run to save your life
Owls hoot as you pass
Startling you
The moon is shrouded with clouds
The stars share the toga
There is a faint outline of trees ahead
Your only hope
You sprint into the forest
Knowing ghosts lurk there
Wind is whooshing through the branches
It gently caresses your face
But still manages to blow your soul away
The crisp air tastes of fear and death on your tongue
You breathe deeply
Trying to be calm
But the rotting tree and dirt smell send you on another panic attack
Your run again through the trees
Biting your tongue so not to scream
Blood pours into your mouth
You blink away tears
But still trip on a root and fall
Twisting your leg in the process
Let your bloodcurdling scream consume you
All is black
