Yesterday, I believed I was beautiful
Because I had listened to your heartbeat and
I thought it had regulated mine.
How stupid
To allow a facilitating human
To handle something like that.
Remind me to never
Never
Ever
Make that mistake again.
I have wrapped my bed in chains
And I pried off the mirror from the wall
Because it reflected
Nothing worthwhile.
My bad.
Yesterday,
I believed in butterflies and fairytales
And in smiles and laughs.
Yesterday
I was an innocent to the wonders of
Agony.
Yesterday,
I hadn’t spent two hours crying-
Over petty trivialities that are not worth mentioning.
Today,
After I awoke in a bed of Kleenexes and dust,
I noticed that someone had written across my heart:
Welcome to Adulthood.
