Mirror, Mirror On The Wall
Mirror mirror on the wall
Show me myself and let me see
I seek the truth and nothing else
Don’t show me lies that aren’t me
The Mirror lies
She thinks looking at herself
As repeated words float through her head
Like words from a hated song
Heard and never forgotten
Always repeated
“You’re not good enough”
“Not pretty”
“You’re never going to make it”
Heard so many times,
They must be true
The mirror only shows what the mind
Wills it to show
But we all know nothing is a simple
As it first may seem
Don’t judge a book by its cover
Don’t judge a life from its past
The mirror may show a reflection,
And one may believe it true
But the one thing a mirror always misses
Is the real you
A lost and broken heart
Put down each day
Alone
Unknown
Deceived
Forgotten by the force of love
But the mirror lies to her
About the one thing she needs
To know the most
It blinds her to her own beauty
The light and grace
Sun and starlight
Love and compassion
Hidden inside her, only showing a glimpse
Now and then
Waiting to be set free
While we live our lives
Ignorant in paradise
Raised from birth to know
A parent’s gentle touch
We thrive and grow
To powers known world wide
Living like gods
Shaping the world around us
But no one realizes
The abandonment and lies
Creating something fragile
Until it’s slipped away
The day has come to prove them wrong
It ends today
As a girl stands looking in the mirror
That has shown her only lies
She’s was told to believe
That morning it seems she saw the first glimpse
Of the truth
Whispers she heard from an invisible party
Keep trying
Beautiful
Exotic
Wonderful
Perfect
Gave her faith
To believe something other
Than the mirror of lies
Mirror, mirror on the wall
You showed me lies
How could you keep hidden from me
The beauty I missed inside
