The Nightmare
The nightmare will fade,
Or so I’ve been told
Agony,
Have I led you on and made you believe
That I am the girl you want me to be
A delicate, but perfect flower
Standing against the harshest weather
Always holding myself together
Reality must now set in
The truth branded into you and me
But the nightmare will eventually fade
At least that’s what I’ve been told
Embarrassing,
Indeed it is to see what you see
What do you think when you look at me
The vision is taken into my mind and twisted around
Shame is in the eye of the beholder
Reality must now set in,
The truth a gentle touch on my burning cheek
So that the nightmare will hopefully fade,
That’s what I’d like to believe
Frightening,
Will anything ever change
I don’t think I’ll survive the same
Will I soon wake up from this hellish dream?
With another chance at dignity
Reality must now set in
Things aren’t as bad as they seem
That’s how I know that the nightmare will fade,
But it’s still so hard to believe
High School,
The true test of the strength you hold,
It’s painful and it’s hurtful,
Trying to freeze you cold
Think of all that you’ve had to survive
Painful indeed but you’re still alive
It has to be true that the nightmare will fade
There simply is no other way
The pain that you feel means something to me
Don’t look at the hurt as nothing to see
A nightmare is pain and a hard long road
But the nightmare will fade more rapid as you go
