The Fix
e're standing on mountains whenever we're low
Ten feet in the sky while we're twenty below
Claiming at grounded, bragging of our roots
With heads in the clouds, gone too far past blue.
If the world is a scapegoat, that makes you the crime
Yet somehow, our love's more a lawyer than blind
Eternity is for dreamers, so I'd like to be
The rose on the doorstep, the letter at your feet
Where writers block meets sleep deprived
And we realize the world is spinning.
See, we're nothing but paper, both you and I
So fragile and flying, like kites in the sky
Two shiny hot air balloons, floating far too high
Winking and darting, but an inch out of reach
If gravity wakes up tomorrow and decides to forget
I think we'd make quite a pair
Just you and I
Swinging somewhere up there with the stars
