Fighting Fate
I see all of these people around me, searching for something. Something that’s never to be found. There’s pushing and shoving all around, everyone trying to see if they can finally get what they’ve been searching as long as they get there before anyone else. Crying and screaming, kicking and biting, trying to fight fate.
I stand here trying to figure out how long I’ve been searching, what am I even trying to find? Are we all trying to find the same thing? Is it a person? The light to take us away from here? The passage to the other side?
Suddenly I realize the thing we’re all searching for is hope, something most of us lost long before we even got here. I look around one more time, then lay down and close my eyes, knowing after all these years I’ve finally found my hope.
