Like Father, Like Daughter
I miss the ways your hugs smelled
How I'd hold you a little tighter
And wouldn't let go
So I could get one last inhale
Of coffee and aftershave
I miss the way your laugh echoed
I swear I could hear it from
Miles away
You didn't believe me
But the echoes still sound in my head
Every now and then
I told you so
I miss the way your eyes squinted when you smiled
Did you know they do?
Mine do too
I have your eyes
That makes smiling again
Just a little easier
I miss the way you wrote even though I couldn't read it
I always managed to decipher
"I love you."
I write messy too
But what can I say?
Like father, like daughter
I miss you.
