A Walk and an Encounter
I happened upon Death by a midday stream
And she said I must go
I did not protest or struggle
Only noting the river’s flow
The sun was up and the birds did sing
On that peaceful and airy day
So we ambled through the forest’s leafy paths
Not one word did we say
I had no sense of panic
No desire to turn around
No light did we walk towards
No destination could be found
Somewhere along that serenity stroll
My companion left my side
I did not feel lost or helpless
I submitted to the ebbing tide
Without Pain or process
I became one with the trees
I was the soil, the ivy, the pebbles, the boughs
I was swallowed by the breeze
