Dream to fly with broken wings ~<3~

Gifted With a Curse :) <3
Every time she lifts a pencil and makes intricate swirls and points on the page
She leaves a part of her behind, every time she's cursed to write
Some people say she shouldn't write with a heart so small as hers
But shouldn't her heart be huge if she breaks off pieces and weaves it in for all the world to see, for every soul to read
Every time tears prick her eyes and tendrils of her soul tries to kill her
She tears off half a jagged heart
She wasn't gifted with a forked tongue, sun kissed skin, or an angel soul
She was given the ability to break, to shatter
To know a million names for the lonely stars
To say angels of hell and the love of death while making your blood boil
To accept the long, lonely nights and brick walls
To conjure up a thousand words meaning to cry
She was gifted with the curse of a writer
Constant criticism and judgment
You're too boring to ride this ride, too much spirit for a pep-rally
The curse of words
She's 5 years old and she hums to some lyrics while hiding in the woods
Changing them, altering both their existence and her
She's 9 and a poem reminds her of her father
Keeping it forever safe in the dark corner of her heart
She's 13 and she doesn’t know how he could be so mean
Treating her like trash, throwing her out onto the freezing curb
She writes about it. Memories of dreams in the past, of words not said
Maybe people were right saying she had a small heart
How could someone with such a big heart be given such a curse?
Writing lets her put her feelings out there, for everyone to laugh at
But doesn’t writing leave a play-by-play of your life
All the pain swirling and lifting off the page, enclosing her in a locked steel cage
Surrounding her in a deadly embrace,
Tendrils reaching out to repeatedly slap her across the face
Leaving bruises where hands once caressed the skin
Needless of poison forever jabbing into her veins
Things that she'll have for the rest of her life
Slowly killing her over and over and over again till the ends of eternity and beyond
She was gifted with a curse, the curse of a writer
So was I...

I wrote this in response to all of the devoted writers in the world. The greatest like Edgar Allen Poe all the way down to the most insignificant poor child. A gift in the form of a binding curse.
