Hide and Seek
Water the cactus.
Feed your soul a meal.
Cut paper into shapes of roses
that blow away in a hurricane.
Use anything for inspiration.
Have your notebook ready;
you may find what you are looking for
in the shadows, and
behind the mirror.
They say microphones
project voices. Well,
I don’t believe them. I think that
books project voices.
That snowboarding down a hill can
become whatever you want it to be.
A bumblebee, floating onto
a forget-me-not, onto a
lilac, onto a sunflower. A
Bumblebee,
moving onto grass, onto a maple tree.
Now, imagine-
These things are real. So real,
That there is a locket.
A locket, filled with these things;
These images, these emotions.
Imagine this, look deep into that locket, into
Your mind. Your soul.
And you just might be able to find a
Poem.
