Battle of Nature
It was a wonderful day out
The sun was smiling
While a few clouds were surfing the sky
The birds were singing to each other
While the crickets chirped a soothing beat
The warm gentle wind blew out across the land
Making the grass wave to and fro
As the wind passed over the sunflowers
Their stalks began to swing their golden fist in the breeze
I trotted through the tall grass
Into the yellow forest of the sunflowers
Their golden hair sheltering me from danger
I stalked throughout the forest
Easily slipping around the stalks
I knelt down onto the cold surface of the black soil
Laying down my head to rest
I gazed around seeing some tiny hills among the stalks
Little ants were working here and there
Some ants were off in a corner
Talking about this year’s harvest
Another group is near the bottom of the hill
Gossiping to one another
The air seemed to moisten
While the light began to dim
The ants look up with shocked faces
And start to scramble along the ground
They scream when lightning flashes in the distance
While the thunder shakes the ground
The sunflowers stand tall and strong
While the rain starts to charge
It slams into the flowers fist
As it recoils off the surface
The flowers knit their petals together
To form a giant wall of might
The ants start to slow down and look up
In disbelief that they are still alive
They start to come together
And emit a ferocious cheer
The rain starts to weaken
Calling back its troops
The sunflowers relax
Unhooking themselves to reveal the sky
I start to laugh as the ants begin to dance
Hugging each other in a big embrace
They then seem to notice me
Screaming and running back into their mound

The story behind it is when I used to live in North Dakota as a little boy, where there were sunflower fields everywhere.
