Broken Poetry
This is
poetry because my sentences
are broken and lack
rules.
My words sing like a song
but not enough
to earn a beat.
They flow like a story
but not enough
to earn a binding.
This is
poetry because I decided I
didn’t want to be ordinary.
This is poetry because
I want to be unique and prove
that anything,
even this
crap
about how poems are really just broken stories and useless songs,
can be
poetry.
So that makes this one of the most
clichéd
poems I could write.
