Emerging from the dark
Swirling on desolated shores
While tropical palms whip their hair.
Oaken planks drift
Down cobblestone walks, and rough asphalt-
Flooded.
With a sudden burst of light and
Tiny shards of shattered glass,
the black begins to break,
cardinals begin to tweet,
and waves retract beyond low-tide
Despite the broken shutters and rose gardens-
Tattered,
Laced pillows form in the sky, and
The turquoise blanket clearing,
If only for a moment
