Perfect attention

Sitting in wait
with perfect attention
I fail to notice those around me
falling and slipping
crying out for my aid
but I sit there
with perfect attention
they curse under their breath
curse all that is me
while I sit there
With perfect attention
I look at the world around me
But what I fail to do is see
all the people
around me
as I sit
with perfect attention.
