Mother and I
He ruined my life, he ruined it all;
He makes me want to jump, makes me want to fall.
He killed my spirit, he killed my soul,
He stole my heart and replaced it with coal.
She doesn’t deserve this; we can survive on our own,
But no, he has to stay, for now she bears a son.
My thoughts are like a hurricane, so destructive and deadly,
And it’s all thanks to the one that we all call “Daddy”
He hates us, this you can tell by his eyes,
He wants to abandon us, despite all the lies.
He tells us he loves us, never wants to leave us again,
But because of him, I’ll never trust another man.
He beats us drunken, he beats us sober,
And she stands by sobbing; telling me it will soon be over.
One late night she tells me to pack up my things,
We sneak out of the house, despite all the fear it brings.
We have no money, not a place stay,
We eat no food because we cannot pay.
She tries to find a job without any luck,
‘It’s only the first day,’ she says, ‘we cannot give up.’
But then I realize something that might save us all,
If we do not walk, we cannot fall.
You don’t know what I mean, but that’s alright,
I’ll stab her at night so she will not fight.
