Elephants
These mammals are giants
Loyal and non-defiant
We keep them in cages
Like ink words on pages
Yet strong they remain
With no signs of pain
Beautiful in their own way
They eat 16 hours a day
Though eyesight is poor,
Their brains know much more
Than any animal in the kingdom
Ears much bigger than some
With a slow moving pace
They’d lose any race
But once I did ride
I was as high as the sky
Ivory tusks desired for keys
They need them too, I wish they could see
Elephants are not beasts
They’re gentle creatures, to say the least
